Because behind every placement is a person…and behind every person is potential.

Meet Shuntella. She started with our People Plus-Lexington branch in November 2025 and is currently on assignment as a Transportation Administrator. Here is her Success Story:

What was your situation when you first connected with People Plus?

After being in the workforce for over 30 years, I actually lost my job for the first time when my company shut down. Someone had sent my son a link to People Plus, and he shared it with me—so I figured, why not give it a try?

What stood out to you about your experience working with People Plus?

What really stood out to me was that I had no idea People Plus was a temp service, so when I showed up thinking I was going in for a regular interview, I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was super friendly, really nice, and they were very accommodating with what I was looking for in a job.

Tell us about the role you were placed in and how it led to where you are today.

I was placed in the role of Transportation Administrator. In this position, I code invoices that get sent to Accounts Payable for payment, calculate tariffs, run background checks for potential users of our products, and handle filing. It keeps me busy, but I really enjoy the variety.

What skills or confidence did you gain through your assignment that has helped you succeed?

I’ve learned so many new skills in this role. I’ve picked up a lot of accounting knowledge and a better understanding of all the different ways we ship our products by ground, air, and sea. The job is very detailed and meticulous, which has really sharpened my quality‑inspection skills, especially when I’m reviewing invoices to make sure everything is coded correctly. I’ve also gotten much better at time management, since I process anywhere from 30 to 50 invoices a day from as little as $50 to as high as $68,000, both domestic and international.

How has this job impacted your life outside of work?

Honestly, it’s even helped me with budgeting at home. It might sound a little funny, but since I use a spreadsheet for my personal budget and also use one here for certain invoices, I’ve actually learned new ways to manage and organize my spreadsheets better. I’ve also picked up a bit of knowledge about tariffs along the way.

What would you say to someone who’s hesitant about signing up with a staffing agency?

Don’t be! Just go in and tell them what you’re looking for in terms of the job and the pay and see what they can match you with. This is actually the first staffing agency I’ve ever worked with, and it’s been a really great experience. I can ask questions and get quick responses, I was able to get health insurance, and they placed me in a job that I truly enjoy.

If you could describe your experience with People Plus in one word, what would it be? Enjoyable.

What’s one thing you’re proud of in your current role?

One thing I’m really proud of in my current role is how quickly I picked up the processes. The work is very meticulous and detail‑oriented, so when I was learning, I took careful notes in a notebook, step‑by‑step instructions for each process. I kept adding to those notes as I learned more, and it really helped me get comfortable and confident. Because of that, I was able to work independently within just a week or two.
